hotel school interior design with accompanying functions
The Amsterdam branch of The Hague Hotel School is located in a former office building along the ring road. The Hotel School is a dynamic meeting place for students, teachers, hotel guests, and professionals from the hospitality industry. What makes the building unique is that functions such as education and office space are combined with a perfect environment for practical training for all functions in the hospitality industry. In addition, the building also serves as a living environment for students who are “interns” during the first part of their studies.
The austere modern architecture called for an interior that would counterbalance the brutalist character of the building in order to achieve the desired welcoming atmosphere. In addition, it was important for the training program to create different environments within a single concept, responding to the fact that people are being trained to work in various sectors of the hospitality industry.
In the design, we paid a lot of attention to the question of how we could combine a clear layout, in which light and openness prevail, with the intimacy and privacy that are essential in the hospitality industry. Through the sophisticated use of color and materials, combined with a conceptually clear design, an interior world has been created that unites these diverse objectives.
